Rudder removal

Walts Excellent Rudder Adventure

If you are interested in knowing what a Downeaster 38 or 41 rudder looks like split apart take a look at this project. I have successfully removed the metal stock and core and managed to salvage one side of the rudder glass and the skin from the other though I had to cut it into a couple of pieces. Next is the sandblast and priming of the metal and then the foam and expoxy rebuild of the skin. We’re having some fun now!
