Is it USCG approved to have the new kind of red/green light on the bow of a DE 38, instead of the factory location of them on either side of the bow?

hmm.. never even heard that there is rule about it. Our boat has a single fixture that is red and green mounted dead center on the top rail of the bow pulpit. As far as I am aware it has been the same fixture for at least three owners and possibly from the factory. I have never seen signs of a previous installation of separate  red and green lights.

Thanks Scott. Mine's a 1975 and it's got the lights about 4 feet back from the bow on each side. Well, one anyway.  I'd heard there was a rule about this regard beam size, but I guess I got it wrong. I think I'll remove the one and fill all the holes and mount a single red/green right at the end of the bow.

Seems to have worked well on valkyr and if anyone had cared I'm sure it would have been changed by now 🙂 I put a LED in our existing fixture there. If doing it from scratch I would get one of the totally sealed LED bow light fixtures.
