Hello,
I'm the new owner of "Poppy" a 1975 DE38 located in San Carlos Mexico. It's new name is "Stoic".
Trying to piece together it's history, I could be the 5th or 6th owner at this point. Seems to have started life on the southern California coast and spent most of it's time in San Carlos, maybe down the coast to Costa Rica?
Looks like it might have been blown over, beached, or fell off it's stands on it's port side and took on some water. Most of the teak exterior trim has been removed, otherwise looks original and neglected.
Any interesting stories would be helpful to get the full picture of it's life. I'm planning on getting it back on the water soon after many years on the hard to enjoy with my boys William and Stewart.
Questions and updates will surely follow.
Thanks in advance! Wes Simpson
Welcome to the forum Wes, I pop on here every year or so, really not so good at this sort of posting thing! I have found this forum useful many times and a lot of great folks and their DE's are in and out over time. Hope to sail my 32 (finally) down towards your Stoic this fall, made it to SF Bay in 2019 and then the pandemic arrived!
