Well today ended up being a lot more work than I thought when I wrote the last post on updating the site for the menu fix.
I decided to update the main website software and that worked well. then I updated the forum software and that worked well also. Then a few hours later I got a spate of new user registrations. About 10 of them in a matter of minutes. This is not normal:) we tend to get a user or two a week. So I did some looking and determined that the spammer bots had struck and were registering fake users on the site to try and spam us.
I manually deleted all the new users and then installed a couple of new modules to block bots. For new people registering I apologize as it is a bit harder to register now. You have to add two numbers, fill in the captcha field and verify your registration to become a user. The captcha field is case sensitive so type it in just the way it is spelled. I tested it and it works and will let you register. If anyone has problems please email me a scott@scottcarle.com or use the form on the contact page to message me
So a lot of stuff has been done to the website and forums today. Lots of behind the scenes updates. It's important if anything isn't working correctly to let me know so I can fix it.:)
The saga continues.. So I locked everyone out of the website accidentally with the upgrades yesterday. So far I have only gotten emails from two users so hopefully it hasn't been a big hassle for everyone. Because I applied some increased security to the website yesterday dealing with new users registering as I had a spate of bots get through and create spam accounts. The unforeseen side effect was that I locked everyone out of the website due to the registration confirmation feather that new users have to use. None of the existing users ever had to confirm their registration before. I have manually confirmed the registration of the entire existing membership.
You should be able to log in now.
If you still have issues please let me know. scott
