I'm about to install my newly fabricated steel bow sprit and was wondering if I could get some feedback on how high above the water most peoples DE 38's bobstay connector sits? The one at the keel. Mine's about an inch above the water right now , but I'm assuming that it should be above the water line while the boat is at rest as a general rule. Is this correct?
Thanks
Mine sits just at or above the water line, depending on how much the boat is loaded down.. I'm pretty light up there right now so it is sitting a couple, three, inches or so above. I have no holding tank, and 1/3 of my chain is missing.. We cut out 100 of 275 ft of 5/16? chain as it was bad. So there is a significant as in hundreds of lbs of weight that is no longer in the bow. Boat sits on her lines at the rear and and the bow sits higher. If sailing the bobstay fitting is in the water.
