I have a Simson Lawrence SEATIGER 555 manual windlass for sale.  I is in brand new condition, never used.   I have had it stored away for years with plans on installing it but opted for an electric windlass.   I recently cleaned out the original grease and repacked with new grease.  It works perfectly and is the best manual windlass ever made.  Make me an offer.

I need a windlass for my newly purchased DE38.  Which electric windlass did you get?

I might go for a manual job, but really think that in the long run the electric will serve me best.

Any tips on choosing the windlass will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bob:

I installed a Maxwell HRC-10.   I also opted to use a combination chain/nylon brait rode with a rope to chain splice.  So far installation has worked like a charm. 

I also sold the Sea Tiger through a local marine consignment outlet.

I will get you pictures of the installation if you want.
