I am trying to close out my rework of the bilge pumping system and want to get a more accurate picture of the shape and dimensions of the bilge itself.
It seems that one of these "snake" cameras or endoscope would be ideal for surveying the parts that are impossible to see.
They seem simple enough, but thought I'd ask for first-hand experience with types, makes, etc.
Thanks in advance.
Bob
p.s. I might add that I am trying to decide whether the suction lines from the diaphragm pump located behind the engine, and the Whale Gusher manual pump mounted in the cockpit should extend into the deepest point of the bilge, in the center of the boat next to the galley. At the moment they both end under the engine, and if that is nearly as deep as the central bilge sump I'll leave them alone. If the central bilge is a lot deeper I'll extend them down there. In any case I am trying to work out the shape of the bilge, fore and aft, hence the idea of the endoscope to survey the terrain. I have searched this website without finding a proper plan showing the profile of the bilge. If there is one in here please point me to it. Thanks.
p.p.s. I might add that I am thinking about installing a check valve in the suction line of the manual Whale pump to help prime the pump which will not be used very often and has to pull up a lot of water to get going....
