Anonymous DE38.

(Outside shots only –the guys are right, the inside shots must be a different boat)

Ok... that's a DE38 on the outside but I would have sworn on a stack of bibles it wasn't a DE at all if all I had seen was the inside section of the video.

Just wow.

galley on starboard and nav? on port. the V berth looks to be totally different proportions compared to mine. Lots of cabinetry missing or changed. Would love to hear some history on it.. 🙂 actually I have to watch the video again. I couldn't turn up the audio to listen so I don't wake the baby 🙂

The inside shots aren't the same boat.  The window profiles are all wrong, and there aren't side ports in the v-berth... Looks smaller to me.

You are correct. I noticed the windows on the inside and wondered but didn't go back to look at the profile on the outside. So on a second and third go through of the video I noticed the the cabin roof profile is different also. It has to much camber on the inside shots, and it doesn't stair step the like the DE's do. Windows definitely don't match. That nice heater's chimney doesn't show in the outside video of the downeaster either.

1975 DE38 Жизнь на воде - Яхта!! 😀

Check the chainplates.

And don't forget, Это Downeaster 38 - в своем роде уникальная яхта, из 460 выпущенных яхт 261 яхта совершила кругосветку.

The older de's had inboard chainplates that went through the caprail and bolted to the inside of the hull as shown in the above video.. DE moved to outboard chainplates as they are less leak prone and less chance of crevice corrosion.
