I wonder if there is anyone with plans for a folding table for the DE38
I have the table that opens but is mounted to the floor.
I have noticed that there are some boats with the table mounted to the bulkhead and can be lowered
as needed. This is how it is in my CS27. I like having the room when I need it.
I would like to maybe make one or if they are available maybe buy one.

On the same subject does the post in the main lounge that the table is attached to support the top of the coach roof?
Can it be removed without to much stress from walking above it?

Thanks in advance

Our table hinges on a slab of teak that is screwed through from the shower stall. The top is held up with a simple brass latch onto the compression post. The teak slab is cut to go around the compression post.

The more complicated parts of the table are that it folds in half and has a couple of sliding slats underneath that support the leaf.

Yes That sounds like my CS setup. I think if the table is to fit to the post one of two things must happen.

The table on the cs has legs that come down as the table is lowered and is held in place by a brass latch also and a clasp to hold the table together whilst in the upright position.
The peice of mahogany that holds it up is adjustable to allow height variation. Sounds complicated but pretty simple really.

1 the table would have to be trimmed or two the table would have to be notched for the post.

I have been mulling over this, I have a lot of talented carpenter buddies, Ill have to start begging..lol

Maybe a couple of close up shots of yours posted would be good.

Ill take some photos of my CS table so it might trigger some Ideas for the DE

Ok here it is 3 months down the road and I have finally got a lot done on Sea Pirate.
I have started the cabin table and it is going very well. I have pretty much copied the idea from my CS27
I have been taking pictures as I go, (we actually) enlisted the help of a carpenter buddy !
We have maintained the look and feel of the table as it was. It will not quite reach the pole anymore but almost.
I removed the fiddles (trim) and took 3inches off the back side of the table the side which will be mounted to the bulk head.
We then rounded the table corners back the way they were. Installed the fiddles (trim) back on.
removed all of the existing hardware. We are going to use the brackets that held the leaves up on the legs eliminating
the need to rely on the hinges to hold the legs in place.

A piano hinge will hold the table against the bulk head.
I am convinced it will all work out.
I have been laid up for a 2 weeks as the mechanics who came to check out my bilge pump neglected to put the lower
steps back in place securely and I went down like a ton of bricks..cracked 2 ribs..Ouch!!

So I'm hoping to get back to this project tomorrow.

When I get close and know this will all work out I will post pictures.
