Does anyone know with confidence if  there is a foam cavity (space) between the inside surface of the ceiling and the topside deck.

Also between the vertical cabin riser like there is at the port lights.

Background: The headliner has been removed from all the vee-berth surfaces and the previous owners painted the fiberglass roving interior (blue). I don't like the look and am planning on putting in new ceiling slats and then finishing the vertical cabin sides in wood slat to match the work I did in the head.

Yes all deck surfaces have foam core if it is original. Some boats such as mine have a few places where core has been repaired and might have ply or foam core. Not sure about riser?

The vertical sections are also foam core, just like the decks.
