My main cabin and V berth have the wood slats fastened to the ribs and the screws are plugged. Does anyone know a way to get behind them in order to wash down the surface behind them? I was thinking maybe something like a squeegee , but very thin.

we are going to do this soon in the vberth and I just plan on taking some of the slats down. I want to get it really clean behind there looking for mildew etc. I am going to tape in some reflectix between the slats from top to bottom at the same time to help insulate.

We (Sandy) did this not long ago and it's come up great. I'll check with Sandy to see what she used as a cleaner (maybe vinegar and water) and what tools she used. I know it took her a long time and we didn't remove any timber, but it came up great.

Scott, I just went to your facebook link from this site and sent a friend request. Then the Scott Carle that popped up just had lots and lots of photos of guns. If that's you then Im a little surprised as I thought it'd be photos of your boat. May be worth checking out from your end.

Regards, Dave

Definitely not me. Could you give me a link to that scott carle's facebook page to check what exactly happened? The most you will see on my facebook page is a post once in a while of my daughter. We don't actually use it that much. The more time goes on the less I like the whole social media thing to be honest.

Vinegar and water sounds like a good bet.  Maybe also add in an anti-microbial oil, like tea tree oil or lemon oil or thyme oil.  Instead of using water, maybe use rubbing alcohol.   Maybe mix as follows:  1/3 vinegar, 1/3 alcohol, 1/6 tea tree oil, 1/6 peppermint oil (aka Dr Bronners liquid soap, peppermint version).  Keep a fan going to dissipate the fumes.

Thanks you guys. I will give those a try. I'll be trying to clean them next week.
