Was going thru some old papers and photos and found a poem that my wife, Pam. wrote for our DE 38 boat christening. As a DE is an ideal cruising boat, I assume that most of the people on this web site share similar views. As this was our basic philosophy of cruising over the years, I thought I would share this poem with you.......
Our wish for you at this time of your christening
Is for the sun to be always across the water glistening
That your sails be set with their trim just right
And may all of your skies be red at night.
May your winds be fair with constant seas
And need for a life raft there will never be
May your rigging be strong and your rudder sound
And may you never go aground.
May you have an open heart and mind
Towards the many cultures you will find
As you sail across the seven seas
In search of new faces and places to be.
A wise skipper --a good crew
Are all the things we wish for you.
As your cruising life has just begun
On this third day of June, 1981.
As I christen thee Dream Maker
A cruising boat
My wish is that you'll stay afloat!!
First Christmas afloat 1984
And wherever you wander, wherever you roam,
May you always feel at home.
And whether or not you find fortune and fame,
Here's hoping you live up to your name.....
