DE38 Eclipse needed more storage area in the galley so – as there was nothing but [wasted] space in the engine room immediately aft of the galley ... I cut a hole in the bulkhead and built an insulated box-like compartment, with removable shelf, extending into the engine room.
When at sea, the cubby-hole is closed with 3 drop-in transparent grey acrylic panels that match the existing galley cabinet sliding doors.

That's interesting. I just assumed that the cabinets there were stock. Valkyr came with a similar arrangement from the factory from what I can tell. At least it matches all the rest of the boat in wood and workmanship.
ok here is the only picture I can seem to find.. The doors to that storage space is behind the sink fawcet if you can make them out
it wouldn't be hard to retrofit I don't think.. It is a pretty basic and not that strongly constructed box about 12 or 14 inches deep simple attached to the back side of the bulkhead there aft of the fridge. it is not attached to anything but the bulkhead around the opening cut through it. I have run wires over it between it and the overhead and there is also dead space between it and the hull as well as under it. It doesn't impact space in the engine compartment that much and I could mount one of the small 4 kw gen sets back there still if needed. Our fridge compressor sits back there right now and I think I still have a lot of space. I wouldn't want to put a generator back there though because of the weight. If I did mount one back there I would move the battery bank from where it is now to between the water tanks and fuel tank in the bilge to lower the weight and move it forward. 400 lbs forward and then another 250 or so for genset back in the engine compartment.
On looking at Eclipse's picture, I will note that our compartment back there is not as deep nor as tall as that. Though I would guess it is a couple inches longer.
I believe it is from the factory though. Probably an option. The joinery, fittings and wood work are identical to the other galley cabinets and the sliding doors are interchangeable with the others. The teak matches the teak through out the boat. I would guess it was pretty much the same lot of teak used in all the construction on our boat.

Mine's got a cubby there a well, but it does not look original. Looks like somebody recessed a plywood box into the engine room and then propped it up with a metal pole and epoxied it to the glass in the engine room. It's just big enough for a microwave, which seems to be busted at the moment. I've thought about glassing over it and putting a generator in there.
