1. Garage door opener receiver attached to horn. Transmitter worn around neck of person on watch. Transmitter was put in child's balloon for waterproofing. Note: Receiver is horizontal white tube in photo. It is on all the time and draws milliamps. Transmitter is small blue square hanging to left of horn.
2 and 3. Attached large 2.5 kilogram dry powder fire extinguisher to copper pipe with silicone. Pipe is led to top of engine. Separate pipe is at base of stairs which leads to bottom of engine. (Small round hole in center of photo)
4. Household fire and smoke alarm above engine along with halon fire extinguisher.
5. Reinforced mast tangs of goose-neck. I found hairline cracks in stainless. Also in photo is a separate track for a storm try-sail. A definite waste of money ,effort, and time.
6 and 7. Stern anchor ready to go with storage for 200 ft 5/8 braided line.
Cheers and beers,

Love the engine fire extinguisher set up and the remote horn is pretty cool also.
Goose neck on valkyr developed cracks also when father in law owned the boat. He had it repaired. It seems that might be starting a trend of issues with them on the DE38's. Has anyone else had to repair theirs?
I have thought about adding a trysail and separate track. You say it was not worth it? what is your thoughts on that?
Hi Scott,
Nice to get a little feed back. I have only used a storm try-sail once and it was a waist of time setting it up. The try-sail was designed by Hood Sail loft for Dream Maker. We were traveling on a beat for 8 days, and had a triple reef in the main. It finally let go around the head of the sail after this prolong pounding. I then put up the try-sail to beat the remaining 30 miles. The sail was a joke. Had no drive in it so we just took it down, turned around and sailed twenty miles to a nearby island and repaired the main sail. As far as the track is concerned, I tried to put the track as close to the main track as possible. The problem this created was to make me put a bend in the track in order to get the try-sail around the furled up main. A real knuckle buster. If I had to do it again, I would put a straight track up the side of the mast. Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Jim
I hadn't really looked at the details of how to do it, just the idea of it. Money wise it was way down low on my todo lists. Right now looks like we are going to sell valkyr 🙁 and go back to using our Beneteau F235. Just to much time and energy maintaining Valkyr anymore so we are going back to a smaller boat.
