Yep... to funny...

V-berth is just high period.. even for the big guys like me. They put it up that high to get the side to side dimensions with the hull widening as you go up from the waterline. As with everything else on a boat it seems a compromise was required.

I think the DE38 is laid out a bit differently so maybe it's not a problem. DE32 is shorter in this area I think so the step is very recessed and there's no seat area. I like the folding step idea. The other aspect is that Oasis has really deep foam cushions that add a few inches and also have a lot of give.

I agree with the throwing method. It does work. Kind of like throwing a spinnaker sail bag forward on a race boat. Light, up & over. For the bigger genoa's though it gets tougher. ;-D

I can see the daggers heading my way already. I was just kidding as we currently use one of those plastic steps that I just throw forward while underway. What I am planning is installing one of those wide folding mast steps on the secondary door which should provide the little ladies and us old men with a step up and it folds out of the way. Problem solved.

I have heard this comment several times from female guests on Oasis DE32: "It's really hard to get into the v-berth" (and out of the v-berth). That's because it is quite high, a huge step up, and with the front bulk piece in place, the teak step is hidden. So if female guests are going to use the v-berth then I try to place a storage box or crate in the v-berth area to act as a step. One of these days I will install one permanently. Unless others have a better solution.

I guess I don't hear this v-berth comment from guys because guys have more upper body strength to their body weight so likely it's easier to muscle up there. I don't have a problem myself.
