Bill Amt has been kind enough to contribute six stories he has written over the years about some of his sailing experiences. Not all of them are strictly Downeaster stories but all of them are about sailing and being on the water. We will feature one of his stories every week on the home page starting in February. I and Bill hope you will enjoy these story's. If you some you have stories you have written in the past or want to write about now and have them put up on the site then please let me know.

I have spent a couple of days going through the old forums and moving over some of what I considered the more information laden and pertinent posts.

You will notice on the forums a lot of new topics that I have started with the first post holding a bunch of posts from the old forums. If you have some information that would be useful on any of them or a topic not brought up yet then please post it. The more information we have here the more it helps all of us.

I have also put up a lot more pages on the static site. You can find them by browsing through the drop down menus at the top of the website.

Zsanic says you will think I have no life out side of the forums here.. As I assured here this is baseless lol.. I just get a little obsessed once in a while and this happened to be one of those times.

As far as I know I have put up all the old information from both the old websites and the forums over at http://downeasteryachts.yuku.com

If you have something.. old emails with good information in them, pictures, write ups on your website, manuals that you can't find here on the new website, etc.. then send me the information or post it here on the forums. It just about makes me cry reading through the old forums how many conversations on technical matters were moved off the forum to email so as not to clutter it up. All that information is lost to us now. The more you can post on the forum the more that can't be lost that way in the future. If you have something posted on your website already, I encourage you to post it to here also, put a link back to your website also in the article or posting on the forum but lets get information residing in more than one place so that if it disappears at one location it is still available at others.

I also need to arrange with one or two people to receive automated backups of the database that holds all this now. At the moment I get emailed to me weekly backup that I think I can have go to more than one person at the time. If you have an interest let me know. You would need to know how to set up a wordpress weblog website and import mysql backups into a database in case something happens to me and this needs to be put back up. Right now the backups contain the text of all pages, posts and forum posts here. The weekly backup will probably grow to many MB's in size.

ok that's it for me today. I'm now off to other things that the downeaster website

have a good one folks and enjoy all the new stuff that's up.
