Does anyone have a legible sailplan for a DE 38 Ketch? I need something with dimensions, if possible. Everything I've seen is not readable.

Also, I've spoken to my sailmaker who's going to do some modifications for me and he suggests moving the baby/inner stay for the staysail forward almost to over the bow and moving the upper mast attachment up proportionally so I can enlarge the staysail and minimize the (monster) jib we're flying now. The idea appealed to me as we're heading for the Bahamas and a self tending Staysail, mizzen and main sound like a good combination in everything except light air.

I'm also going to commit the ultimate sin and raise the mizzen boom enough so I don't have to be hunched over for hours at a time. I believe the look won't be too off as I'm only raising it for a 5'9" clearance by the mast, I'll cut the mizzen so the foot is slightly raised for more clearance at the stern where we'll be doing all the fishing. I'm also putting Mack Packs on the main and mizzen and a track insert I read about that my sailmaker sells that slides in the existing track and is made of some super slippery nylon/delrin/plasticy material that will allow me to get the sails up and down much more easily.

Now's the time to talk me out of any of these as I'm going to start the process this month.

I'm also replacing the sheet blocks with sail tracks: one for the mizzen, main and staysail. In the short time we've had Orion I noticed that I can't really get anything close to centerline which is where they need to be when I'm pinching into a wind and motorsailing. If it means the difference between just motoring and motorsailing, I'm for it.

So anyone have that sail plan that I can actually give to my sailmaker? The previous owners had a huge jib that must have been only for very light air as we couldn't get the thing in satisfactorily in anything over 10 kts of wind, and that's with a 2 speed winch.

Rebuilding the Raritan head this weekend.

I don't have anything that isn't already posted to the website.... I guess best bet is to get someone with a ketch to post their sail measurments.. other thing would be to get sailmaker to visit boat and take measurements right off the boat itself.

Rick, the previous owners had new sails made for my ketch, I will email them to see if they keep a file on the measurements.  They raised the mizzen to clear a full hard cover bimini that holds 4 solar panels.  I am glad they did it.  On my past ketch, a Fuji 35, it was something I wanted to do.  Sail packs are the only way to go, make sure which ever one you go with has good drainage in the lower portion.  No thoughts on the sail block vs. track, I am smelling what you are selling, but my kitty needs to go towards an auto helm 1st.  before running rigging.
