Our Alder-Barbour refrig equipment died yesterday. Any suggestions on replacing?! Something decent without spending a fortune. Thanks!!!

It was 24 years old so I don't believe someone wasted $675 that long ago.

You're funny!!! I was thinking a dorm refrig, a couple bungies to keep it in place. Guess the current frig in the counter could be a flower box. Beers in the frig may get Isabella sold.

hmm.. wouldn't it only be 5 or 6 hundred to get a new compressor? I assume the lines and plates in the fridge are still good?

Still pricey but not in the thousands i would think.

We're on hold for now. Have looked at the Engel drop in which may be an option if we want to part with $995.00.

Hi:

I installed a SeaFrost unit about 5 years ago and could not be more satisfied with its performance and energy use profile.

I selected the unit with the solid  evaporator plate and the compressor/condenser with the dual air/water cooling option.  I have it set up for air cooling only with the unit mounted in the engine room andthe cooling air ducted in from the lazzaret area.  Might need the water cooling option if I ever get the boat to warmer waters.

Let me know if you want more details and some pics of the install
