I forgot to mention that there are before and after pictures of Pelli's ports, inside and out, on the Pelli re-build entry in the General Forum. You can probably see also, the reduced size of the big 'windows'. I re-built the cabin side there, too - 3/4" dried treated ply glassed on both sides (the original core is 3/4"). Glass/epoxy fared-in for several inches all round.

I'll second the nomination for New Found Metals. I replaced all 4 forward ports on Bodhran with the bronze rectangular ports. The 5x12" ports replaced the plastic opening ports in the vberth area without having to do too much cutting. The plastic deadlight in the saloon and the "sliding" port in the head had larger cutouts so I had to use the 7x15" ports to replace those.

On a side note, I've pulled out the big windows in the saloon and glassed over them. Originally I was going to get 4 more of the NFM 7x15" ports to install in their place, but 3 weeks after I thought that I ordered the ports, I got an email asking for confirmation. As I'm sitting in a boatyard waiting on installing new ports, I decided to cancel the order and source something locally. I found some New Zealand made Maxwell 7x25" aluminum frame opening ports which I think I'm going to use.

Here's a pic of the NFM ports on Bodhran. The port visors are from seaworthygoods.com and do a great job of keeping the rain out as long as it's not blowing too hard.

Somehow this topic got created twice. I went ahead and deleted the duplicate that didn't have any replys to it yet. 🙂

Our DE38 has enamelled bronze port lights in the salon, head and vberth. I think they were original equipment (optional at build time) Not sure of manufacture though. They are rectangular with rounded corners. They look good on the sides of the rectangular coach roof. You can just see them over the caprail in this shot. I will have to find a better picture of them 🙂

I used NewfoundMetral's stainless eliptical ports. Very impressed with the design and construction (also the price). The hinges and closing lugs are both adjustable. Probably the best ports I've come across. They do bronze as well and several shapes. I had to re-build the cabin sides to some extent, as the ones I removed were huge, nasty plastic ones!
