I have fuel hose for years, and they do not seem to be affected by the fuel, however they are not submerged in fuel so can't answer your question. I also can't visualize a leak proof connection coming out of the tank. I used soft copper pipe and compression

fittings for my problem. Enjoy the pictures.

My 32 tank is a little different I don't have the drop squared off bottom. I just come down to a v. Any how do you thonk rubber will work in a dirsel tank? My tank has a female fitting and the make elbow has the dip tube welded to it. Which the tube and elbow have to be inserted and then screwed in. So the only problem is the tube must be straight or it would not turn bc it would hit the baffle and tank. So short of major repair if I could add a rubber hose to the end from inside the tank I could still turn it

Had problem with fuel pick up tube leak. When fuel got to a certain level inside tank, air would leak into system. Solved problem by putting a 1/4 inch soft copper pipe into tank where injector return line goes into tank. This became my new pick up tube.

On my tank this aluminum pickup tube is welded onto side of tank. Had to replace bottom of tank a few years ago. Posted pictures on this forum under title FUEL TANK REPAIR for DE38, on page 2.

So after reading brodhams post on his seabuikt access plates I decided to do the same. However I made mine from aluminium for a fraction of the cost. Got to the fwd compartment and to the aft compartment ( both sides of the baffle) lots of sludge in there so glad I decided to rip it apart. My fuel guage is broken and my tanks were full of brown diesel and sludge. The pick up tube for the fuel penatrate the very aft of the tank and runs down to the fwd slope. Mines loose in there and the ends plugged up. I'm thinking it's not even connectsc since I can move it all around. There's that last baffle so I can't see how it hooked up. Is it possible there's a flexible hose attached from the tank fitting to the hard pick up pipe behind the baffle that I can't see? I can pretty much roll the hard pipe and touch it to the sides of the tank. Has any one replaced these or know how the pipe attaches attached from the tank inleet fitting to the actual pipe?mine has what looks like 3/8 bronze elbow going into the tank aFter that????pics advice or experiences sound be great!
