thank you. I tell you what. I've only been working on and curseing at my boat for the last year had her out a few times this season. I must say what a beautiful sailing boat she is! My first cutter rig.I've got a high cut jib ( Yankee?) I was worried at how small it was. But once she's set she was able to sail herself with no helm for about 30 minutes. I'm impressed at her sailing..I've only had 12 -17 with stsysail main and jib and I assume I would not consider a reef until 20 -25. And she'll do 5-6 in ten knots. Not a racer but deff a good cruiser! She doesn't like to get moving or change course but she when she does it's a nice ride. I'm impressed nice boat! Now If only she moved or turned in reverse haha.

Mgav:

I've looked at anything that would increase my boat speed and that idea is one of them. Maybe taking 800 pounds of cruising gear and tools would help but how would I fix everything as I'm cruising?

So I researched the concept on practical sailor and have landed on Max prop although there seems to be a lot of close seconds. And because of the size of the prop space between the rudder and hull only a feathering and not a folding prop will work but you've probably figured that out as well.

We get into the "big boat races" at my local sailing club and while the rest of the guys are obviously around the buoys racers with pretty good PHRF ratings, we're apparently the only boat in the "comfortable cruising" category which means that our ridiculously high (245) PHRF rating is the only thing keeping us from being a laughing stock at the dinner/awards ceremony after the races. Most of the food and beer is gone by the time we get in but with a rating that is twice the fast boats, we actually do pretty well in the standings. That is all by way of saying I wouldn't mind adding a couple things that would make it possible to at least stay closer to the back of the fleet instead of watching them galloping over the horizon and a folding prop might be worth it.

On my next birthday...

has any one added a feathering prop to a de 32 with a yanmar 3gm30? I’m kicking around the idea. Adding a jprop to my boat. Haven’t gotten into researching how to size the prop yet possibly some one has the same boat and motor and has already done It?
