You will find pictures and info about Dragonheart in the forum under boats for sale , 2nd post (in Guatemala) She is cutter rigged and the layout is pretty much the same as the boats built by DE. The large fixed ports are smaller and the main traveller is forward of the companionway. The port settee is L shaped and the stbd settee is more inboard.

I purchased a DE 38 with hull # NOY007A487. I have been told it was built by Newport Offshore Yachts in April 1987 and is hull #007. I was told that Newport bought the DE 38 molds from Down East Yachts when they quit business. Does anyone know more about this and where the other Newport built boats might be? Also any construction methods and standards used by Newport? How many 38's did they build? Thanks for any help. We keep Dragonheart in Rio Dulce, Guatemala when we are not cruising the Northwest Caribbean.

I seem to recall some talk about some DE's being made by another builder on and old DE message board but this is the first I've heard about Newport Offshore Yachts so I can't help with any details.

I'm actually curious about the boat. Is the layout the same as the Down East built boats? Is she cutter rig? You can find layout drawings and all sorts of other information on this site under "The boats". Do you have any pictures of Dragonheart?
