  There should be some good pictures up here or on scottcarle.com showing close ups of how it was installed and made. If not I will find some and post them.  If you really want the soft parts for a template your welcome to them though.

 

I used the stainless bow for it and reused it to make a small Bimini that goes over the helm. I have the feeling the cost to ship the fabric part would be prohibitive.   I imagine it would be in the hundreds 🙂 I have to admit it did work fairly well though I always wanted it to extend a bit farther aft. It never kept rain from coming in the companionway. It only extend back about 24 inches past the aft face of the cabin. We extend the hard dodger back about 36 or 37 inches because of that and it shelters the companionway much better now.

I've studied that post and looked on YouTube and everything else on the internet to get a better understanding of what goes on. I imagine it's probably pretty simple but figured there might be  a DE owner with a few photos that would really help. Depending on the info I get I might wait another year because I really don't want to get stranded on the slip with unforeseen issues. Regardless I'll be doing the PSS shaft seal and cutlass bearing.

PS: I like your hard dodger project . It looks great. I also noticed the soft dodger (Black Canvas) that appears in a lot of the web site photos. Not sure whether the freight would be too expensive but I'd be interested if you felt like selling it, or if not, I'd love to get the plans for it so I could get a local bloke to knock one up for me.

I am about to slip and antifoul Tondy DE38 and whilst on the slip I am replacing the cutlass bearing (Morse Bonito), and installing a new PSS shaft seal. I understand that I don't need to remove the rudder for those jobs but it would make them a little easier. I have never really checked out the condition of my rudder bearings so I am considering removal of the rudder and inspection (plus possible replacement) of its bearings.

There are no current signs or symptoms of wear but I just don't like not knowing how old everything is or how it all goes together.

I have searched the website and found bits and pieces relating to rudders but if anyone has some detailed photos and advice on rudder removal and  rudder bearing removal I would really appreciate it.

Naturally I will be taking plenty of photos and will post them as soon as the jobs are done.
