You have to lay on top of the engine and hang down behind it. I'm 6'2" and have long arms and I can barely reach. It was a major pain a couple years ago when we repacked ours.

That pretty much means I need to change the oil and filter. It's got about 50 hours on it and won't be run much for at least another 6 months.

Oh joy. But I guess I should get used to it now. At least access to the engine on a DE 38 is very ample.

Better oils seem to be safe to push that out a bit.

I have a Perkins 34 horse diesel and was wondering how many running hours do people run their engines between oil changes? I'm guessing that the make is not the critical issue. So I'd like to hear what people are doing in this regard.
