This is one job that I felt was way too big for myself to handle, so I hired a mechanic to help. The tanks were $1200 and were made from the pieces of the tank that the mechanic actually had to cut out. They actually were a bit too tight the first time so he had to cut them after they were fabricated. I'm sure the fabricator kept the plans/patterns, but you could call him: http://www.americantanks.net/index.php. Vince is the owner/shopmaster and him and his sons run the company.

That is very nice... how much did it cost to get the tank made if I might ask... and did they keep a pattern or template :)it might be a good resource for other owners with the same issue.

Nearly two months later, we finally got the new fuel tanks installed in the boat. The mechanic cut out the old tank and took it to a fabrication shop where they made them in three pieces plumbed together as one. Two triangular tanks that go up the port and starboard side as well as one square tank that goes deep into the bilge.

No need to cut up the furniture or anything.
